This is the stuff dreams are made of. Built between 1857 and 1859, the country house is a dazzling sight amid the greenery of a 14-hectare park. Relax beside a meander in the River Meuse, take a look at the hunting and angling lodges and chapels, or watch the heronry which is full of activity in the spring. Entering this delightful house full of character gives added depth to the feeling of tranquillity and satisfaction with life. Here are the lounges and a library suffused with the muted tones of classical music. Upstairs, there are 25 bedrooms (5 with mezzanine) and 2 apartments perpetuating the concept of quality accommodation. On the first floor, there is a decidedly country house feel with tall ceilings and even some four-poster beds. In the attic bedrooms the “Floral Note” is more contemporary. Other amenities include the integrated “Nature and Spa” complex with steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and body resculpting room where tea-based beauty products are used. What with fly fishing, a beginner’s flight in a hot air balloon, buggy and quad bike hire, carriage rides and sightseeing in a region that has so much heritage, a break here provides so much to share – and there’s an even more wonderful experience awaiting you at table.
Cuisine
Authenticity! The watchword in the hotel and for the chef, Benoît Thouvenin, who is always delighted to show off regional products, for example Medium Rare Malaumont Chubb, the Foie Gras and Wild Boar Piglet Ham Pastry Slice. Then, of course, there are the delightful desserts made by Hervé Pierrat, Head Pastrycook, such as his Iced Parfait with Verdun Sugared Almonds.
